We first discovered, and were irretrievably drawn to this unique property in the late 1980’s. For over 25 years we have shared the beauty and mystery of Arkenstone with bear, coyote, mountain lion, rattle snake, scorpion and raptors of all sorts (as well as voracious grape eating wild turkeys). Remnants of native obsidian work, as well as historic dry-stack walls made of local stone, are constant reminders that we are just the latest inhabitants to appreciate, care for and benefit from this land.
We moved very slowly and carefully in our development of this project in order to maintain and nurture the native plant and animal species, and respect the contours of the land. Our vineyards have been farmed organically from the very first planted vine, with the goal of creating and maintaining a healthy, thriving ecosystem throughout the entire Estate. Much of the property is the way it was when we first saw it, and there is still a sense of discovery as you hike through vineyard, forest and meadow.
Our entire team here at Arkenstone strives to maintain the quality and integrity of our wines. Our vineyard and wine making practices, as well as our very special terroir, come together to create beautiful, balanced wines with great structure and age ability.
We welcome old friends as well as new visitors to Arkenstone. Come and taste our wine and share in the beauty of our Howell Mountain retreat. Tours and tastings are by appointment, so please schedule your visits well in advance. Also, please join our mailing list so we can keep you updated on our wines, news and events.
