Arkenstone Estate Vineyard
Located on the western shoulder of Howell Mountain, Arkenstone Ranch rises from 1400 ft. to over 1650 ft. of elevation. Our vineyards cover 15 acres and consist of 22 separate blocks planted to traditional Bordeaux varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, Malbec, Semillon, and Sauvignon Blanc. We also included Syrah in the vineyard, which has turned out to be a great varietal on its own! The blocks are planted on slopes that range from 2% on the flattest vineyards to 50% on the steepest. Rootstocks, clones and varietals were carefully selected to match the widely varied soils, slopes and exposures found on the Arkenstone Ranch. From the first vines planted in 1998 through today, we have used organic practices in the vineyard exclusively. Since those earliest plantings, we have fine tuned all aspects of the vineyard. This has resulted in mature vines with consistent characteristics that lead to full, balanced and distinctive wines.
