2022 Amoenus Vineyard
Cabernet Sauvignon
Amoenus - aˈme.nus/, [äˈmɛːnus]
Latin for: beautiful, attractive, pleasant, agreeable, enjoyable, charming, lovely
Arkenstone has been the fortunate recipient of 3 separate blocks of the Amoenus Vineyard beginning with the 2018 vintage. Located on the Western hills of northern Calistoga, just south of Knights Valley, the Amoenus Vineyard is an absolute gem of an addition to the Arkenstone lineup. Farmed by Turnbull winemaker Peter Heitz with collaboration from Arkenstone winemaker Sam Kaplan, this sloping vineyard rolls through the hills with elevations ranging from 460 to 860 feet. Sitting just above the valley floor, this site will maintain cooler temperatures during the summer compared to the neighboring vineyards of Calistoga, helping maintain uncompromised structure and brooding fruit. By blending three unique blocks from the Amoenus Vineyard, we’ve captured a balanced and nuanced profile that reflects the full character of this single site.

Single Vineyard Cabernet
Arkenstone began sourcing three separate blocks from the Amoenus
Vineyard with the 2018 vintage. Situated on the western hills of
northern Calistoga, just south of Knights Valley, Amoenus is a standout
addition to our lineup. Farmed by Turnbull winemaker Peter Heitz in
collaboration with Arkenstone’s Sam Kaplan, the sloping site ranges from
460 to 860 feet in elevation. Perched above the valley floor, it stays
cooler through the summer than neighboring Calistoga vineyards,
preserving structure and bright, focused fruit.
Each vintage we hand-select barrels from these three blocks to craft a
balanced, nuanced single-vineyard Cabernet. Additional barrels from
Amoenus are blended into our multi-vineyard Cabernet NVD, allowing us to
showcase both the site’s distinct character and its contribution to our
broader Cabernet program.

great finish"
