Howell Mountain —
Up Close

A close-up of a hand holding a bottle of Arkenstone Estate Howell Mountain Napa Valley 2021 wine outdoors, with a blurred natural background.

Wine connects us to Napa in a deeply human way. It’s shaped by soil and sun, but also by time, care, and intention. Crafted with patience and guided by place, our wines are an honest expression of the valley—meant to be shared, remembered, and experienced slowly.

High above the valley floor on Howell Mountain, our estate sits among red volcanic soils, cooling forest canopy, and the steady rhythm of mountain seasons. The elevation, rugged terrain, and dramatic shifts between warm days and cool nights shape wines of depth, structure, and remarkable clarity. Here, the vineyard moves at its own pace, and every vintage reflects the character of the mountain as much as the hand that farms it.

A look behind
the curtains

A visit to Arkenstone offers a rare peek behind the curtain of a true mountain estate. Perched high on Howell Mountain, our small team farms and makes the wines entirely in-house, allowing guests to experience the vineyard, winery, and caves exactly as they function day to day. Tastings are intimate and unhurried, offering a closer look at the people, the place, and the thoughtful decisions behind every bottle. It’s less a formal tasting and more an invitation into the inner workings of the estate.

Vine to Glass:
The Making of an Estate

Crafted with Patience,
Defined by Place

At Arkenstone, our wines begin on Howell Mountain, where elevation, volcanic soils, and a rugged natural landscape shape every vintage. Through careful farming and a restrained approach in the cellar, we aim to capture the character of this remarkable site, allowing the vineyard and season to guide the wines from vine to glass.
